My Thoughts on Left Field again

Well as the off season is winding down to a close. With just 22 days until Pitchers and Catchers report, Most Yankee fans have not been pleased with the Left Field Situation. I for one believe we are doing the right thing. Brett Gardner will be a fine player for left. Hes cheap and provides an element the Yankees have lacked in there starting lineup for years. SPEEEEEED!!!! He should be able to make strides improving to Major league pitching as well. He seemed to show them last season before injuring his thumb and Girardi for some reason decided Melky should start even after Brett came off the DL. And say it doesn't pan out. Really what do we have to lose? come mid season plenty of guys such as Carl Crawford, David Dejesus, Rick Ankiel, Magglio Ordonez and even Johnny Damon could become available if there teams fall out of the playoff hunt. So why not take a flier on Gardner and give him a shot to play everyday. I for one think he could handle it and make the Yankees and me look Brilliant for trusting him.

On another note Diet Dr. Pepper taste more like Regular Dr. Pepper.

  1. Aaron,
This is Mike and I live down in the Western Foothills of the Catskills, used to live in the 'Cuse years ago. Anyway, big Yanks fan and have been following LoHud and RAB, saw your link and thought I'd say hi.
I agree with your sentiments on Brett. He won the starting spot fair and square last year and he has all the tools to play at the ML level. Who cares if we have a 50HR/140RBI at every position? Not necessary, plus when you look at the trend over the last 1-2 years, it's all toward defense. The Mariners have amped up there and so have the Sawx. I see Gardner starting in CF, with Grandy in left. Winn is a good 4th and as for Damon, Cashman made good faith offers that were turned down by the Damon camp (read that: Boras). I also agree with the coming season. If for some unseen reason, both Gardy and Winn tank it, there's always a trade avenue open. Frankly I see Gardy stepping up. He's going to start swinging at good pitches and leave the junkers alone and his OBP is gonna go up dramatically. How good will it be to have him on the bases all the time, especially ahead of Jete? Way to Go, Cashman and LET'S GO YANKEES!
