Widely considered as the best closer in the history of baseball. Mariano Rivera has 558 all time saves and a career ERA of 2.22. 2.01 if you take out his rookie season when he worked mostly as a starter. All that when the batter knows exactly watch pitch is coming. However I have found one flaw in Rivera's game it is the hit batter. in 1147 innings he has hit 43 men. Andy Pettitte has throw 1,901 more innings in his career than Rivera and has hit just 8 more batters. Mike Mussina has Thrown 2,415 more innings than Mo and has hit just 17 more batters. Then the legend Whitey Ford tossed 2023 more innings and hit an amazing 15 LESS batters. Quite an interesting stat on the best of all time.

Inning per HB.
Mariano Rivera 26.7
Mike Mussina 59.4
Andy Pettitte 59.8
Whitey Ford 113.2

Here's a painful image of The Phillie Physic getting drilled.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 193px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Dnu8mFxp_Cw/TJtgHcmyUKI/AAAAAAAAADc/cV764wRHrBc/s200/face.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520111449326899362" />

Off Season is approaching

If your a big baseball fan you have to love the Hot Stove season. Which is approaching fast and hopefully will be following a 28th World Series Championship. Many names have already been linked to the Yanks including Cliff Lee and Carl Crawford. But where would they fit in?

According to Cots Contracts the Yankees will have cut about 65m off there payroll entering the off season. This is after a few players annual salaries such as Swisher, Granderson, Cano all raise.

While a few players such as Berkman, Kearns, Johnson and Vazquez wont be back with the club next year. You have to assume Pettitte, Jeter, Rivera all will be. Re-signings of Wood and Thames are also Possible.

After Another great year has been added to the resumes of Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera you have to figure that they will get very similar salaries as there previous deals which were 11.75 and 15m Respectfully. SO lets go ahead and say they resign for 12 mil each. Suddenly we are down to 41m.

Then there is the case of Derek Jeter. Having his worst season in the Majors right before a contract year. This season he made 21m in the final year of his 10 year $189 million contract. Since he is Derek Jeter Yankees will most likely respect him and offer him way more than market value which is believed to be about 4m a year. I say a 3 year deal worth about 15 million annually is going to be what gets it done. So our free money drops again to 26m.

Two less prominent names approaching free agency are Marcus Thames and Kerry Wood. Thames is having a very good year off the bench and I assume that he will get a new contract worth 1-2 Mil. Then there is Mr. Wood who has been great since coming over here. Apparently he didn't get the memo that veteran relievers cant play for the Yankees after failed tries with Park, Hawkins, Farnsworth and on and on. I don't Expect the Yankees to pick up his 11 Mil. Option but I think he will be resigned in the 5-6 Mil range. Rounding up like I always do we will say 8 mil for them 2. leaving us with 18m.

Then you have Arbitration eligible players Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Dustin Mosely, Boone Logan, Sergio Mitre, Chad Gaudin. I expect that Gaudin, Mitre and Mosely will be non tendered. Freeing up about another 2m. Hughes will probably nad between 3-4m while Joba and Logan also get raises. We will say about 5 mil added payroll through Arbitration. Leaving us with 13m.

Cliff Lee will probably demand around 18m and Crawford about 15-16m. Of the 2 the only one we really need is Lee. To get this done our payroll would have to increase at least 5m next year.

This would give us a team of...
C Cervelli
1B Teixeira
2B Cano
3B Rodriguez
SS Jeter
LF Gardner
CF Granderson
RF Swisher
DH Posada

BCH Pena
BCH Thames
BCH Golsen
BCH Miranda

SP Sabathia
SP Lee
SP Pettitte
SP Hughes
SP Burnett

RP Rivera
RP Chamberlain
RP Wood
RP Robertson
RP Logan
RP Marte
RP Nova

I would like to see a stronger bench this is what I think would be best to happen though very unlikely.
First trade away Marte. Logan really stepped up and Marte is not needed.
Second Trade away Burnett. He is to inconsistent but could thrive in the NL. That could free up about 20m.
Sign John Buck to a 1 year deal worth about 5m.
Sign Jerry Hairston to a 1 year deal worth about 3m.
Sign Joaquin Benoit to a 1 year deal worth about 5m with option. Proven RP in AL East.

This would leave our payroll about the same as last years. Allowing us to make any deadline deals if necessary. The team would look like this.

C Buck
1B Teixeira
2B Cano
3B Rodriguez
SS Jeter
LF Gardner
CF Granderson
RF Swisher
DH Posada

BCH Cervelli
BCH Thames
BCH Hairston
BCH Miranda

SP Sabathia
SP Lee
SP Pettitte
SP Hughes
SP Nova

RP Rivera
RP Chamberlain
RP Wood
RP Robertson
RP Logan
RP Benoit
RP Aceves

The Wheels are turning!

RIP Boss

I will never forget The Boss George Stienbrenner. Well The D-backs are really taking it to us now but its just 1 game. Despite being in First place we seem to be carrying alot of dead weight on this team. The people I consider Dead Weight would be the following.

Chad Gaudin- Why did we bring him back? He had a horrible ERA in the AL West. Why would it be better in the east? Available players who Id take over him Kei Igawa, Jason Hirsch, Dustin Moseley, John Van Benschoten

AJ Burnett- The guy is so hit and miss. Couldn't we deal him and pay half of his contract? I'm sure some team would take him at half the cost. Available Players I'd take over him Zach Mcallister, Ivan Nova, Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt

Ramiro Pena- I really like the kid but I think that last year was a fluke. Maybe he could be part of a package for a decent relief pitcher. I would simply call up Jaun Miranda so we have a backup first baseman besides Swisher.

Chad Huffman- I do not see what he provides to the team now that Colin Curtis is on the team. A veteran backup with pop would be more ideal someone like a Ruben Sierra or Eric Hinske who knows there roll. Some Possible better options in a trade could be Austin Kearns, Ty Wigginton, Wes Helms

Thats all I feel we need is a little tweaking to improve our bench. And the division will be easily won.

Shake it up???

Obviously the Yankees are struggling right now. Losing 2 of 3 to the Mets and 3 of 4 to AL East rivals Red Sox and Rays. Teixeira continues to struggle and the hot bats of Cano, Gardner and Cervelli have cooled. What would I do? Heres is what I would do.

DFA:
Randy Winn
Chan Ho Park

Demote:
Boone Logan

Call Up:
Jesus Montero
Jonathan Albaladejo
Ivan Nova

Nova and Albaladejo have pitched very well in AAA. I know Nova is a starter but with a win now mindset he may be just what the bullpen needs. Hopefully With Montero we can catch lightening in a bottle for our slumping offense.

The New lineup

SS Derek Jeter
RF Nick Swisher
2B Robinson Cano
3B Alex Rodriguez
1B Mark Teixeira
DH Jesus Montero
C Francisco Cervelli
LF Kevin Russo
CF Brett Gardner

Then After the injuries
SS Derek Jeter
CF Curtis Granderson
2B Robinson Cano
3B Alex Rodriquez
1B Mark Teixeira
C/DH Posada/Montero/Cervelli
DH/C Posada/Montero/Cervelli
RF Nick Swisher
LF Brett Gardner

Demote Russo or Pena when Granderson is activated and then Moehler When Posada is back.

A 3 man rotation of Posada, Cervelli and Montero will keep all our catchers fresh. Of course you play your hottest players the most while the 3rd guy sits. If Montero isnt getting enough at bats when Posada is back of course you demote him.

Chan Blow Must Go!!!!

The guy is a complete joke there has to be 1 guy who can do what he is doing for less money lets think.... Of course we have some of our players who will become free agents next year the list includes Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte who I'm not going to include in my post because I assume they will all be back and make similar amounts of money as they are this season. Coming off the Books will be Vazquez, Johnson, Park, Winn, Thames, Miranda (Im not sure how it works with him since his original contract was a major league one) So coming off the books after raises for certain players is $13.65 million. So really I think there is a shot to sign one of Cliff Lee or Carl Crawford.

Lee would really help the team A rotation of Sabathia, Lee, Burnett, Hughes, Pettitte would be nasty. But I think that a battle for the 5th spot next season between youngsters such as Ivan Nova, Joba Chamberlain would be a better Idea. Last year we got nothing from 1 spot in the Rotation and won the world series. This year we are off to a hot start and have had just 2 good starts from Vazquez. So honestly I feel a young kid could handle the spot.

Crawford in my opinion would be the better option. the line-up would look probably like this.
SS Jeter
LF Crawford
1B Teixeira
3B Rodriguez
2B Cano
C Posada
CF Granderson
DH Swisher
RF Gardner
I really love speed guys who could steal a lot of bases this gives us 2 of them. But what I really love is the options signing Crawford would give us. Swisher would be the Usual DH but could Give Tex a day off when needed and Could play right while Gardner is the DH or plays the other 2 outfield spots. This should really be an interesting debate in about 7 Months.

6 Least Favorite players/ Disgrace to the game

Well the title says it all these 6 players are a disgrace and my least favorite players. There in no particular order.

1. Jonny Gomes, First off he is way to cocky, I remember his rookie year he had a walk off walk against Scott Proctor on 4 pitches that that a blind man could see were not strikes. The guy acted like he had won the World Series for the Rays. Then of course his fighting antics. in 2008 he was involved in 2 fights one during a Yankees game and one during a Sox game. In the Yankee game he ran in from right field to blind side Shelley Duncan and he fell down himself. Then against the Red Sox he helped a team mate punch who I believe might have been Coco Crisp while Crisp was on the ground. The guy is not a man and probably has never been strong enough to stand up to someone by himself.

2-4 Jonathon Papelbon, Fransico Rodriguez, Jose Valverde, After watching the First game of the Yankees and Tigers series I think that Valverde is the worse of the 3. Fist Pumping like he got the last out of a playoff game after each batter. Im all for raw emotion like you see out of a lot of pitchers but like Brian Bruney said last season about K-Rod is its an act. I seriously think these guys hire choreographers to practice there post game antics.

5. Dallas Braden, What he said to A-rod was one of the dumbest things I have heard in my life. Seriously what an Idiot. Clearly he wasn't Raised right by that grandma of his. Who is also a disgrace. Strawberry said it best, "So what? That doesn't mean he's great because he pitched a perfect game."

6. Kevin Youkilus, Charging a mound on a 20 year old kid and throwing your helmet at him is worse than Leaving your catching gear on for a fight. Best best thing is Porcello still took him down.

There you have it 6 Disgraceful Baseball Players.

Whos DH in October?

I am a Nick Johnson fan and I hope he turns it around. But a Walk isn't always as good as a hit. When he walks with 2 out and a guy on second right now that isn't doing anything for us. He needs to start hitting I dont care how often he walks. I looked into the options at DH if he doesn't turn it around.

There is always the option of calling up Montero to Catch and DH Splitting time at each Position with Posada. But I personally dont feel he is ready. But even so may be our best in house option.

Of course there are 2 DH type players who fans would love to see become available if there teams fall out of it. Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon. But The Angels always seem to win and the Tigers should be able to hang around in the Central.

So who else could become available?

Adam Dunn, The Nationals will not be contenders and he is a free agent after the season. Imagine the power he would show in Yankee stadium. Of course he would bat lower in the lineup and Gardner would be moved the the number 2 spot.

Carl Crawford, He could bat 2nd and play left while Gardner switches to right and Nick Swisher becomes the DH. But I seriously doubt the Rays fall out of contention.

Jayson Worth, Phillies wont fall out of Contention.

Chipper Jones, Braves wont trade him even if he still is considering retiring. He's there Jeter.

Andruw Jones, This is actually an interesting option. He signed a minor league deal with White Sox and is off to a good start. 6 HR and a .293 average. But as I type this I think hes another Thames.

I believe the best and most realistic option of the 8 guys I mentioned would be Adam Dunn. What do you guys think?

Random Facts about Random Stats.....

First stat I can think of is that I have never seen any Yankee pitcher toss a no hitter. When Cone did it in 1999 I was just 9 years old and did not have Cable to watch the game. I was really excited watching CC and that 4 run 8th inning we had just took to long for me. Hopefully this will be the year I see a Yankee throw a no hitter.

- 534 Players have hit a HR for the Yankees. The last guy to join this list was Curtis Granderson. Who will be the next guy? 2 of the Yankees new players Nick Johnson and Marcus Thames have already hit at least 1 HR for the Yankees during there first time around. The safe Bet for number 235 would have to be Randy Winn.

- Derek Jeter is just 20 SB from tying Henderson for the Yankees record. So its a safe bet that Jeter will break the Yankees stolen base record this season if he stays healthy. Brett Gardner is 67th on the list with 42 career steals. I think he will finish the Season in the Yankees top 40.

- I wouldve never guessed but Lou Gehrig hold the Yankee Record for triples with 163.

- Derek jeter 214 double plays are just 9 behind Bernie Williams 223 for most hit into by a Yankee. I hope he never breaks that record.

- 661 players have pitched for the Yankees. The best in my Opinion May be Mariano Rivera. While the worse is probably upstate native Tim Redding who was roughed up for 6 runs in just 1 inning of work. Although Anthony Claggets 11 runs in 2.2 is also up there.

Rough Day for Joba...

Well the Battle for the fifth starter spot did not start well for Joba. But we know it will be some combination of Brett Gardner, Randy Winn and Marcus Thames. There will be no Johnny Damon reunion. Unless I win the Powerball in which case id give the steinbrenners 10 Million dollars to get it done. There are 3 free agents from last years team still available that could be a big help to teams if they get a deal. Johnny Damon, Chein-Ming Wang and Jose Molina.

Things seem to be shaping up for Wang who I expect to sign with the Nationals very soon. I hope he rebounds and turns into at least half the pitcher he used to be. He seems like a good guy and deserves it.

The case of Johnny Damon could also be nearing a end. I expect him to Sign with the Braves eventually after a little negotiating. But hey he is a Detroit Red Wings fan. So you never Know.

I have heard Jose Molina's name once this off season. A long time ago the Royals were considering him. He is a great backup catcher who I honestly feel turned the world series around with his pick off play. I really don't know what will happen with him.

I hope all 3 guys sign on and have successful seasons with there new teams. They all played hard for the Yankees everytime out and were good guys to have around.

My Thoughts on Left Field again

Well as the off season is winding down to a close. With just 22 days until Pitchers and Catchers report, Most Yankee fans have not been pleased with the Left Field Situation. I for one believe we are doing the right thing. Brett Gardner will be a fine player for left. Hes cheap and provides an element the Yankees have lacked in there starting lineup for years. SPEEEEEED!!!! He should be able to make strides improving to Major league pitching as well. He seemed to show them last season before injuring his thumb and Girardi for some reason decided Melky should start even after Brett came off the DL. And say it doesn't pan out. Really what do we have to lose? come mid season plenty of guys such as Carl Crawford, David Dejesus, Rick Ankiel, Magglio Ordonez and even Johnny Damon could become available if there teams fall out of the playoff hunt. So why not take a flier on Gardner and give him a shot to play everyday. I for one think he could handle it and make the Yankees and me look Brilliant for trusting him.

On another note Diet Dr. Pepper taste more like Regular Dr. Pepper.

E-A

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 144px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Dnu8mFxp_Cw/S0bmGbBWzjI/AAAAAAAAACs/RFTs0tgM7ck/s200/ea.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424275799221390898" />

What does E-A stand for? Erick Almonte of course. Best known for his brief stint at short for the Yankees after Derek Jeter's shoulder injury on opening day in 2003. I was wondering what ever happened to him. I thought he did a good job filling in for Jeter myself although I was just 12 and always liked the new guy. So I looked at his stats he hit .260 so he obviously was not horrible. The next season with the Rockies organization he hit .318 eith 17 HR in AAA. Really makes me wonder why he never got another shot in the show.

However I was recently browsing through my book where I keep my Autographed baseball cards. Then I realized he didn't really like to take the time to sign for fans. His autograph was simply e-a just his initials with a dash. I really don't get why some players cant sign a good autograph. Almonte was far from a great player who had the right to sign his initials. At that point in your career you should take the time and give the fans a good signature. The reason it ticks me off is because Mariano Rivera undoubtedly the greatest closer of all time takes his time and gives the best signature I have ever received. I just think if you don't want to give a good autograph don't even bother signing and ruining some kids ball. After seeing how lazy he was with his autograph it almost makes me glad he never got a second chance with the Yankees, Rockies or any other MLB organization.

My first guess at the Opening Day lineup

SS Derek Jeter
DH Nick Johnson
1B Mark Teixeira
3B Alex Rodriguez
C Jorge Posada
CF Curtis Granderson
RF Nick Swisher
2B Robinson Cano
LF Brett Gardner
SP Charles Sabathia

I really like this lineup. Ive always been a huge fan of Gardner and I really hope Girardi gives him a chance. I always felt he provided a spark to the team with his speed. He displays great range in the field and his bad routes will improve with experience. He really works the count sometimes a bit to much but if he can become a bit more aggressive and hit the ball on the ground there is no reason he couldn't hit .285 to .300 and steal 30-40 bases. Having a guy like Gardner on first when Jeter is up would open up holes for Jeter on the right side where he loves to hit the ball. It may be just me but id take a number nine hitter with a .350 OBP and speed any day.

The remaining names on the market do not impress me at all. Well with the exception of Matt Holliday and Johnny Damon. But we know there is no interest in Holliday and the ship has seemed to sail on Damon. Though I am a huge fan of Damon and would take him back in a heartbeat. But as far as the rest of the market I'm not interested at all. Just let Brett play and show what hes got. I think everyone will be presently surprised.

Whos in left??

Well all the starters seem to be set except left field and a number 5 starter. But we know it will be Joba or Hughes and the other on will either play left or go to the bullpen. I mean just go to the bullpen. So who plays left? There are big names available such as Jason bay, Matt Holliday and Johnny Damon. Then the more likely option Mark Derosa and Jermaine Dye. Who do I want to play left? I want a less known name. I think we should give a guy a chance to make a name for himself. Right now the 2 options on the roster are Brett Gardner and Jamie Hoffman. i would love to see Hoffman get the chance. Basically what I want is a position players name on the Rookie of the year ballot. His minor league numbers don't really jump out at me though .290 10 homers and 64 RBIs last season and at age 25 I do not think he will provide much pop. There really is not any minor league outfielders in our system who I think provide much pop at the big league level right now but perhaps we could pull off a deal for a blocked prospect and insert him into our lineup and just go with it. If he does not work out we have pieces to trade for a left fielder at the deadline.

Welcome back Nick Johnson.

Well first of all I have been posting at Yankeesmix.com the last week or so and while it was nice to be on a .com website I enjoy having my own blog more.

I really like the signing of Nick Johnson not only because he was my favorite player back in the day but he is an on base machine. I expect him to bat second ahead of Tex and get on base giving the middle of the order massive RBI opportunities. While replacing Damon and Matsui will be hard I think we did a good job at it. Granderson and Matsui's production will pretty much offset each other. Granderson's speed will make up for the dip in average. And while Nick Johnson probably wont hit as many homers and definitely will not steal as many bases I think he will see more pitches and get on base more than Damon. So while these were 2 unpopular moves replacing two fan favorites I think in the long run fans will see it as the right decision. We all Remember what happened to Giambi just this year. He went from a .247 32 HR and almost 100 RBI guy to a .201 13 HR 51 RBI guy. And honestly I think seeing that falloff in production made the Yankees weary of resigning these 2 aging vets.

Whats Next???

My Guess and the good money would on on Andy Pettitte. Now im not great with these number but I think we had about 30 mil to spend and have a payroll lover than last year right around 200 Mil. This basing on what I have read at Lohud which I believe said we have around 170 mil committed. Along with only saying we will be in the 195-200 range. Granderson adds about 5.5 to the 170 number. But Bruney took away 1.5 so basically with those 2 trades we added 4 Mil to the payroll. So 174 is committed. Pettitte will sign for lets say max 13 mil. So were up to 188 Mil. Damon resigns for 2 yrs 20 Mil possibly. So we are at 197. If Wang is non tendered that frees up 5 mil, Gaudin would free up 2 Mil and Mitre 1.25 Mil. I see Gaudin coming back but the other 2 possibly leaving so we could be back down to 192M. we could use that free money to bring in another starting pitcher such as Sheets, Marquis, Escobar or Hopefully Chapman. One of those guys would bring us just under or around 200M.

What would the Lineup and rotation look like?

SS Derek Jeter
LF Johnny Damon
1B Mark Teixeira
3B Alex Rodriguez
C Jorge Posada
2B Robinson Cano
RF Nick Swisher
CF Curtis Granderson
DH Jaun Miranda/Shelley Duncan

I would leave the DH spot open for battle among guys in camp. I know Duncan in a free agent now but tell him he has a shot to start at DH and if he loses the battle he can elect for Free Agency. Hopefully other prospects such as Brandon laird in the Battle. But having a prospect there will allow us to DH Rodriguez, Posada, Jeter, Damon, Swisher ect. from time to time without having to take a star out of the lineup.

1. CC Sabathia
2. AJ Burnett
3. AE Pettitte
4. PJ Hughes
5. Ben Sheets, Chapman, Escobar, Marquis???

Ive always liked Joba as a starter and felt that was his future. but I dont feel he will be effective with Joba Rules so as long as there are going to be Joba Rules id just make him a full time releiver and our future closer.

Welcome to New York Curtis Granderson.

I was not a big fan of trading Jackson. However I do like this addition alot. Any guy who can bat .280 (I know he hit .249 this year but for him .280 is not out of the question) with 30 HR and 20 SB is alright in my book. Also he seems to be a great guy off the field. I have seen him do interviews on ESPN he seems smart and will be a great addition to this team. Hes under a reasonable contract for the next 4 years and if we can resign him for 2 guess who comes a free agent then Austin Jackson. So why not make this trade keep Granderson around if he produces for 6 years he will be 35 then he can walk. If Austin Jackson becomes a star there is no reason we cant bring him back to play out his prime in New York. Now the only question is what number will Grandy where? He was 28 in Detroit and 28 is available on the Yanks. However he seems like the type of guy who might say that Girardi has first dibs on 28 and take a different number. My guess will be 26.

First Overall Pick

Usually the Rule 5 draft comes and goes and I do not really care what happens. However I think we are giving up to much. Austin Jackson is a top prospect and Phil Coke while a bit shaky at times was a pretty big part of our pen this season. Seems like a lot to give up for a guy who had a much lower Average than Damon last season and only 6 more Home Runs and less RBIs. But the RBI are depleted because of his role as a lead-off hitter. Id be more willing to pull the trigger on this deal if we could switch Austin Jackson to say Austin Romine and possibly add in another prospect since we are deeper at catcher with Cervelli and Montero being so young.

My Final Verdict? NO! At the cost of Jackson id be happier resigning Damon to play left for another year and making a push as Carl Crawford for left next offseason. Even if Damon ends up with a 2 year deal he could DH in 2011 if Crawford is brought in.

Yankees Wont Be as Agressive

Ive been reading reports that the Yankees wont be as agressive in Free Agency this year. Tony Clark

Im planning on getting MLB to pay for all the contracts and a place to play. At the July 31st Trading Deadline I will trade everyone since they will all be on 1 year deals. Cause I plan to fold after 1 season. But trade them all for prospects who i will then turn around and package every prospect in a deal for Kei Igawa. Then to fill out my roster sign bums off the street such as Roger Clemens, Kenny Loften, and other players who are done but dont want to give it up. The basic idea of this is to get rid of Igawas Contract and to load up the Yankees minor league system. Chapman and Pettitte would be traded to the Yankees in part of the Igawa deal.

World Series Champs!!!!!!!

Now time to prepare to repeat.

Free Agents: Eric Hinske, Jerry Hairston Jr., Jose Molina, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, Xavier Nady, Sergio Mitre, Chad Gaudin, Andy Pettitte.

Who would I bring back? Aceves

These moves will most likely not raise the payroll to much if at all. Sheets should come cheap on a short term deal and could be great. Damon should resign cheaper and with the money we save from his old contract and Matsuis should be almost enough to pay for Halliday. Pettitte can come back on the same deal as last season. Then Hairston should take a pay cut if he comes back. Molina makes 2 million a year and Cervelli would be cheaper. Then obviously of course you cant predict the bullpen this early but hopefully a vetran could replace either Coke or Bruney.

Going to the boogie down!!!

Thats right tickets to game 1 of the ALDS. But Finally have a chance to post something. So here are just a few things on my mind.

- Yankees finished the Season 5-3 in games I went to this season as they dropped 2 of the last 3 in Toronto. Luckily I had saved up some money and was able to get cocked Sunday and the loss wasnt quite so upsetting.

- I was angry Jeter was benched on Friday. Obviously they wanted him to get the record at home but I wouldve liked to see him do it in person. However the Way Halladay pitched i doubt he wouldve got more than 1 or 2 hits in any.

- I didnt get any foul balls or BP balls at any of the 3 games. SO that streak ends at 3.

- Jerry Hairston has been very good in his role although he is a jack of many trades in the field. Its clear he is a master of none.

- Andy Pettitte.... WOW.

- Football season is upon us. Ill be bloggng a little about the Dallas Cowboys.

- A few Predictions
MVP: Derek Jeter
CY: C.C. Sabathia
ROY: Gordon Beckham
I think Teixeira will be the only Yankee to win a gold glove.

Divison Series__________LCS__________World Series__________Champions

Yankees_______________Yankees__________Yankees______________Yankees
Rangers_______________Angels___________Cardinals

Angels
Tigers

Dodgers______________Phillies
Phillies_____________Cardinals

Cardinals
Rockies

Yes, I actually think Rangers win the wild card. Boston just lost a series to White Sox and appear like they could go into a little slump.

Madden for PS3

My online Madden ID is Ihateump62. Kind of like all the Clemens vs Pedro and Mussina vs Pedro I used to watch when I was younger, only better. I honestly have to give props to both staffs everyone pitched great. Tazawa made his debut and was a little shaky as expected and really just made one horrible mistake. On the Yankees side the only mistake our Pitchers Burnett, Hughes, Rivera, Bruney, Coke, Aceves made was Burnett not being able to get A-rod in the face with the pie. But not so fast reports are now saying that Gaudin will pitch out of the Bullpen at first. So Basically what this means is that when Mitre Continues to fail Girardi can stick with him saying Gaudin is no longer stretched out much like Hughes and Aceves.

Another reason this makes little sense is who do we take out of the Bullpen for Gaudin? Either Melancon or Robertson both of who I personally have been pleased with of late. I know Robertson had some control issues last night but when he is on he is so dominate. The logical pitcher to send down would be Sergio Mitre and just start Gaudin. But of course Girardi will do what he feels is best even though it clearly isnt.

--------------------------------------------------

Damn it felt good watching Yankees absolutly knock around Boston last night. However we are like Michael Kay said Trying to win a World Series. To do that we will need a number 5 starter sooner rather than later. We passed on guys such as Halladay, Washburn, and Bannister based on what these teams were asking for I don't blame Cashman. However Red Sox added a very good hitter and while I don't think he will make them a better team than us considering only 1 guy can play first at a time I so feel they will be better than they were and challenge us for first once again. Right now we are up just 2 games and losing. So I'm gonna say 1.5 even though i know this game wont end 6-5. Sure we could pull off a trade for a starter still such as Bannister. But the Red Sox or any other team in MLB can claim him off waivers before he becomes available to the Yankees and why wouldn't Boston considering there rotation is a little shaky right now with Smoltz and Penny not pitching great and Dice K and Wakefield injured. In a perfect world we could call Mike Mussina and he would be in great shape and pitch just like he did down the stretch last season. But this isn't a perfect world. So what options do we have without a trade if Mitre doesn't pan out in his next start. If there is a next start.

Kei Igawa 8-4 4.03 in AAA

Jason Hirsh 6-7 6.66 in AAA

Zach McAllister 5-4 2.25 in AA

I don't know our minor league system that well but I think these would be the most ready guys to go in place of Mitre. Hirsh has been terrible this season so id cross him out. We have seen Igawa way to much and except for one relief appearance against Boston he has been horrible. So my choice would be Zach McAllister. The 22 year old lefty has been flat out dominate in AA and judging by his stats he has been a victim of poor run support. One problem though is he is currently on the DL. And honestly I have no idea the injury or length. But if Mitre continues to fail its time to call on our next option. Who it will be I have no idea. But my choice is definitely McAllister.

Not Surprised

Anyone who is surprised David Ortiz took roids is an idiot. However Brian Cashman just about always has something up his sleeve. Could that something be Victor Martinez? I havent once heard him linked to the Yankees but he makes perfect sense for the 2010 season. It would be tough this year with Matsui being stuck at DH. But next season V-Mart could be our DH and occasionally fill in for Posada and Teixeira. Then after the 2010 season he is a free agent. Posada could move into a full time DH role if need be and hopefully one of Cervelli, Romine, Montero will be ready to take over catching duties full time. I mean you can never have to many good switch hitters. Just throwing this out there for a possible line-up in 2010 with Martinez and assuming we resign Damon.

SS Jeter
LF Damon
1B Teixeira
3B Rodriguez
DH Martinez
C Posada
2B Cano
RF Swisher
CF Cabrera/Gardner/Jackson

NYC Trip....

Highlights:

- Watching Jobas second best start of the season. Ive decided to give my personal input on the situation.

I would allow the Blue Jays to include Vernon Wells in the deal.

1. That would probly lower there demands slightly. Im not sure the exact figures of his contract but Vernon Wells is in the second year of a 7 year extension he signed. Yea I would rather not be locked into that huge contract for 6 years including this one. However we can afford it with Nady, Damon, Matsui all coming off the books this offseason.

2. However I can also see Vernon Wells reviving his career playing in pinstripes. The shorter lines will lead to better power numbers. He is more of a pull hitter but can go the other way at times getting the ball into the jet streams for the cheap homeruns. But more importantly he will be in a lineup with A-rod and Teixeira. He hasnt been able to put up the same numbers since Delgado left Toronto for Florida. The extra Protection would be good for Vernon.

3. With Vernon patrolling Centerfield and Damon in Left, (Who I would like to resign after the season) Melky becomes expendable. I prefer to keep Gardner over Melky because he provides a world of speed late in games and has seemed to figure out how to hit at the Major League Level. Melky could then be used to bring in a relief pitcher. Pirates have always seemed to like him and could make John Grabow available to us. Im not sure what the price for him would be though.

Who would I give up for Halladay?

1. Joba Chamberlain- I Like him alot but he just isnt the same Joba we had starting for us last year. He doesnt seem like he cares much about his starts and doesnt get to down after a loss. Probly because the media wont rip into him for sucking they will blame Girardi and Cashman for not using him out of the pen. Joba rarley gets blamed for pitching poorly and he realizes that so who cares if he pitches bad. Pheraps a change of organization and realizing he isnt the best thing to happen to New York will be the spark Joba needs.

2. Austin Jackson- I realize he is our best outfield prospect However Damon, Wells, Swisher and Gardner can handle the outfield just fine next year. Anyways while I do see Jackson becoming a very solid starter I dont see him becoming a huge star.

3. Jesus Montero- He has alot of power and will become one of the best power hitters in baseball. However scouts say he is to big to be a catcher down the road. So basically we will have a young DH on our hands if we keep him. Plus Austine Romine should be a better option for us down the line as a catcher and not a DH.

4. Any of our minor league pitchers- Im tired of people like Alan Horne having a real solid season being claimed untouchable. Then just falling apart after that season.

Players I would not trade.

Phil Hughes- Im not going to explain this other than saying he is a future ace, and he WILL be better than Joba.

Robinson Cano- I remember reading rumors in the pre season that had us trading him. That would be a mistake he has proven how good of a hitter he is and when he gets hot very few players are better in baseball. Anyways bluejays already have Aaron Hill.

So my offer?

Joba Chamberlain, Austin Jackson, Jesus Montrero, Zach Mcallister, Possible a couple C-grade prospects for Roy Halladay and Vernon Wells.

Miguel Cairo?

I kind of forgot about this guy after we released him the day Giambi came off the DL and Joba made his Big League Debut but I came across his name today while checking the box score of the Scranton game. He picked up a double tonight and is batting .307 with 4 homeruns and 24 RBIs. Yea I know his Career high for homeruns in the majors is 6 during the 2004 season and Ransoms bat provides more pop but id take Cairo over Ransom on the bench. Ransom is atrocious at third and thats being nice. Cairo can play all four infield positions and some outfield. Last year with Seattle he had just 1 error in 112 innings at third. Ransom has 3 in 135 this season. Cairo is also a great bunter and can do all the little things. Ill admit it Cairo is a personal favorite of mine and that is half the reason im for this. But if I had any say id dump Ransom and trade for Cairo to be out super sub the rest of this season.

How do I survive the winter?

I don't know how I am able to survive during the winter. I didn't have a job and was home alot but I don't remember being as bored as I am during the days I have off this summer. I work 5 days a week and when I have off my friends are working. I am so bored today that this is my second post of the day. If it wasn't for the Yankee games I would probably go crazy. Anyways how about some random thoughts and a little live blogging of the game.

- Ransom just had a good at bat. Picked up an RBI.

- Working at a theme park and not serving beer isn't nearly as much fun as it is when serving beer and watching ESPN all day. The people just don't seem to like you nearly as much.

- I am considering buying a new jersey however I'm not sure who to buy. I bought Hughes last year but he changed his number so hes a possibility again. Other guys I'm considering are Sabathia, Gardner, Joba. I like going with newer guys but Joba and Sabathia jerseys are to popular I like to be a little different. Gardner isn't a safe bet to be a Yankee for a long time. I'm not sure who to get.

- That was a dumb play by the Yankees having Gardner steal home. Swisher is a good hitter with a good eye. he could easily get a hit or walk and have runners on base for Tex and A-rod.

- I just realized Chris Stewart was a AAA all-star. batting .288 with 1 home run and 8 RBI. Great trade Cash.

- When I was bored yesterday I was searching through stats and realized how dominate Pat Venditte has been in Single A. 45 Strikeouts and just 2 Walks in 33.2 innings and 20 saves with an ERA or 1.34. However the Kid is 24 already and I think its time we challenge him with a promotion to AA. There is really nothing to lose.

- Diet Dr. Pepper Taste more like Regular Dr. Pepper.

- My favorite Metro dome Moment was Ruben Sierra Game tying home run in the 2004 ALDS.

- Posada showing Gardner up with a infield single. I think i need to see them run side by side to see who's faster.

- I was looking through ROY candidates and right now Id say Ricky Romero and Rick Porcello are the top 2 choices but Gardner and Aceves should be in the mix. However still plenty of time for Andrus, Weiters, Price to dominate as they were expected to do.

- Ransom just had a good at bat. Picked up an RBI.

- The reason this post is taking so long as we have went through a couple innings is because I was bleaching my work shirts. Nothing like wearing a plain white shirt working in food service. Genius Idea..... Not!

- Gardner is raking. at least 2 RBI in each game this series. Good thing Girardi reads this blog and agreed that he needed playing time.

- Ugh.. Jeter hits into a DP.

- Well I guess I'm gonna hop into the pool or something for a little bit. Peace Out.

Live Yankee games at the beach, Live Yankee games at the office.

Just wanted to let everyone know how stupid I think that statement is. Rochester is of course the Twins Triple A club. Heres a few noted form the game.

- Austin Jackson is very fast. He singled in the first and stole second on a pitch out wasnt even that close.

- Shelly Duncan went hitless and lined out with the bases loaded to end the threat.

- Josh Towers looked ok obviously he will never play for the big league club.

- John Rodriguez doubled and pulled up rounding first. Probly pulled a Hamstring.

- Mark Melancon sucked it up giving up 2 runs in 2 innings including a game tying homerun in the 8th.

- Eric Duncan went 3-4 and is my vote for player of the game on the Yankees side.

- People are stupid they go the game wearing a Yankee hat or shirt but root for the Hometown Redwings and are booing Jackson, Duncan ect. I just dont understand that.

- Minor League hotdogds are not nearly as good as big league hotdogs.

- John Rodriguez was being shown on the big screen and did the Carlton dance from Fresh Prince. Mark Melancon has been great all season in AAA and I think its time for him to get a second shot. Yea I know he had control issues in his first go around in the Majors but he has a WHIP under 1 in the minors so you know he can throw strikes. I really dont see the need to keep Tomko around if Hughes and Aceves can give us multiple innings when Wang and Joba start. Personally I feel that this is the perfect time for him to come up and face the back end of the National League lineups. Build his confidence and then emerge into a dominate set-up man for the greatest closer of all time.

Raise your hand if you wanna play...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 143px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Dnu8mFxp_Cw/SjsI9zDhHUI/AAAAAAAAABg/a22efgiYXGc/s200/brett_garnder.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348878840202599746" />

He hasnt said anything but im sure he does want to play. Yea he will be out a few days with this injury but once he comes back there is no reason he shouldnt be starting over Matsui. Matsui can hit a few homeruns but thats really it. Gardner however provides a completely different eliment to the lineup. He can steal bases and always will give the pitcher a tough at bat. Not to mention how boring it is to watch Matsui. The Defense will also be alot better with Damon Gardner and Cabrera left from right. Swisher can play some Right and Cabrera in Left to give Damon a half day off. Remember last year this team was showing life with Gardner batting ninth until we went into Toronto and activated Matsui off the DL. The Robot came back and it was all down hill from there. Obviously Matsui wasnt the only one to blame but i do feel that was one of the turning points. Heres to the start of the Gardner over Matsui campaign.

Im Alive

Hey guys and girls

Just wanted to let everyone know I am alive. After Mark Derosa caught the third out in the top of the ninth and he handed the ball off to my dad who I took to the game my cell phone was blown up with calls and text messages becuase there was a spotting of Aaron Ebbs on the yes network.

Also im starting to see why people want Joba in the pen he pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning. I am all for this of course if it doesnt mean giving up top prospects. He would make our bench real strong when Nady come back. Swisher, Derosa, Gardner, Molin/Cervelli gives us everything a bench needs. Power- Swisher and Derosa. Speed- Gardner. Good Defense- Gardner, Derosa. Catcher- Molina/Cervelli. Derosa can play all positions except Pitch and Catch so basically think of him as a Miguel Cairo with a good bat.

On another note ill be going to my second Yankee game of the year on Monday in Cleveland. I have first row seats down the third base line. The Yankees are 3-0 the last 3 games I went to. I also have tickets to the entire 3 game series with Toronto in September and am probably going to get tickets to at least one game at the new Stadium.

Well I have another long weekend of work ahead of me so I'm gonna get off to bed.

Not Tired.....

Im not tired so I was thinking bout what roster move the Yankees should make before tomorrows game. Since the Pen went 8.1 innings tonight and the only guys who didnt pitch were Coke, Bruney, and Tomko I expect Albaledejo to be sent down if he has options and Edwar Ramirez to be recalled or possibly David Robertson. If Alby cannot be sent down then pheraps it will finally be the end of Berroa and after a few days Linden or Duncan will replace a pitcher and add pop to the bench. Of course the best way to save the pen would be if Burnett gives us 7 or 8 strong innings and we knock Myers around and have a lead big enough to just let Tomko or the call-up if there is one to finish out the game. Hopefully Burnett, Pettitte and Sabathia can each give us at least 7 innings to get us back on track.

However even if no move is made tomorrow im sure Berroa will be out by June 19th at the latest. Cause we are going into Florida and our bench will be Matsui, Berroa, Gardner, Pena, Molina/Cervelli. Im Sure Posada will be back by then and hopefully Nady as well. If Nady is back Swisher will replace Berroa on the bench and we will have 2 solid Pinch Hitters from the either side of the plate and 2 good pinch runners. So I personally gaurentee Berroa of the roster by June 19th.

Autographs

Getting and autograph of a professional athlete is always a thrill no matter what age you are. When I was younger my dad always made sure we got to the park early to get autographs and we had tremendous success. However in recent years I havent tried nearly as much simply because they will only sign so many and I dont wanna be the reason Joba or any player stops signing right before they get to a young kid. I know how special it feels I have recieved over 50 signitures including players from Bubba Crosby, Luis Sojo and Randy Choate all the way to Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera. I would have to say my most special autographs were Derek Jeter cause it was my first and as a young 9 or 10 year old Jeter was the best thing ever in the world. Second would be Luis Sojo I was 11 at the time and for some unknown reason he was my favorite baseball player. Third Would be Gary Sheffield I was 15 at the time and thought it was cool that he stopped his car rolled down the window to sign autographs.

However whats the point of signing an autograph if your not really gonna sign it? Alot of the players autographs I recieved are barley if at all legible such as Raul Mondesi, Terry Pendleton and Steve Karsay. I have two autographs Brett Gardner (pulled out of a pack) and Erick Almonte who simply wrote there initials wtf is that about? Seriously stop being lazy. If anyone has the right to be lazy on a signature it is Mariano Rivera. However, no autograph that I have ever recieved was signed so perfectly he takes his time and an autograph seeker can never complain about a Signature from the greatest releif pitcher of all time. So basically this is supposed to be a message to professional players. IF YOUR GONNA SIGN AN AUTOGRAPH SIGN AN AUTOGRAPH!!!!!!

And to the idiots who sit there with 2 dozen baseballs and 20 cards of each player get a fucking life!! Let a kid get a chance to enjoy a signature from there heroes. Its only fair.

Yup.....

That makes it 9 in a row.

8 Straight!!!!!!

Im getting so pumped every game that I watch now. I was thinking as of right now what id like our roster to look like next season here's what I've come up with.

C- Posada Obvious choice there but expect him to DH more and more games each year.
1B- Teixeira
2B- Cano
3B- A-Rod
SS- Jeter
OF- Free Agent (Nady, Abreu, Holladay, Bay and a real longshot Crawford)
OF- Jackson Top prospect just needs to develop more power
OF- Cabrera If he continues to hit like he is now he should start next season.
DH- Damon He is leading the team in all major offensive categories, bring him back.

1. Cervelli Hes playing with great energy and is cheaper and younger than Molina.
2. Swisher Hes a role player at best I love the energy but he gets figured out.
3. Pena Great Defense impressing with the bat.
4. Gardner I really think he is gonna come around soon and be key to this team.

1. Sabathia
2. Wang
3. Burnett
4. Chamberlain
5. Hughes He will come around I promise.

CL. Rivera
Set-up. Bruney
Set-up. Coke
Mid. Melancon
Mid. Marte
Mid. Tomko
Long. Aceves

However if I was asked again tomorrow it would change drasticaly this is a daily thing for me.

Trip to Toronto

Well me and my friend Zach went to my first of at least 4 Yankee games this year and it was an adventurous trip to say the least. We left my house around 1:30 and after flying all over the 3 lanes like idiots we finally arrived to Toronto in just 2 and a half hours. With 3 hours to go before the game of course we decided to go to Hooters. After 2 unsuccessful trips last year we finally had a Hooter girl who was good looking, and it was wednsday WING DAY!!! LOL. There was some real creepy dude sitting alone just staring at both us and the girls. Everyone seemed scared of him as waitresses seemed to take alternate roots to avoid him.

After the meal we headed to the stadium and found our seats. Fourth row down the first base line. After we found our seats we took a walk around the stadium. Beer was 10 dollars a can!! But since im not 19 til next month I wasnt able to enjoy a pricey brew. Also there was a piercing alarm going off as something was wrong in the hotel, everyone was complaining. I worked my way to the outfield wall where I shouted to Phil Hughes asking why he changed his number and showed him my 34 jersey. He simply laughed and pointed to A.J. Burnett. Even though he originally gave the number to Marte just 5 days after I ordered the Jersey.

Anyways the game finally started and was off to a bad start with Pettitte walking people. I admitt I thought I was in for a long game but luckily The mighty Brett Gardner hit a homer and it was all Yankees from there. There 3-0 the last 3 games ive been to. And for Blue Jays fans I have to give them props they werent annoying assholes like usually. In fact the biggest idiot there was a Yankee fan nicknamed Mclovin by the Toronto Fans. He was the type of kid you wish didnt root for your team.

So after a happy day with a hot Hooters girl and a Yankee win and not crashing while driving like an idiot we were back in the states. Just driving along listening to some music and suddenly a stupid deer decides to take on my car. I swerved to the left lane and then hit the deer I lost my mirror and have a good dent in my car but other than that not much damage at all. I think I handled it well.

Finally I am now home and ready for bed. Goodnight everyone and since Yankees when when I go and suck when i watch on TV feel free to buy me tickets. :)

Forgot to mention the creepy guy from Hooters showed up 2 rows behind us.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Dnu8mFxp_Cw/Sgu9wXIedQI/AAAAAAAAABY/2T9oM_tYuuw/s200/042.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5335566822091420930" />

Mark Teixeira

Well as everyone knows Mark Teixeira has been struggling so far this season. However he seems to be turning it around he has 6 RBIs in the last 3 games. Although im pissed at him for not delivering at least a sac fly in the tenth I am excited to see what is about to come. Starting Friday when im expecting A-rod to come back he will start seeing alot more fastballs as teams will be scared to walk him ahead of Rodriguez. So yes he sucks now but im epecting the usual 30 homeruns 100 RBIs from him. He will be a key part to winning number 27. Im sure that will come within the next 8 years.

Horrible!!!!

We are 0-5 against the Red Sox. This is just unaceptable, and its time to make a move. I dont think Girardi whould be fired just yet but getting a vetran releiver would be nice to help out the pen. I do like Pedro Martinez but dont see that happening. We have the prospects get a valuable relief pitcher!!!!

I would also like Hank to run his mouth a little more make Girardi and the team feel pressure. Also hiring me for the grounds crew couldnt hurt.

Injuries Injuries Injuries......

Seems like my favorite teams have all been hampered by injuries since last Baseball season.

2008 Yankees:
A-rod, Posada, Matsui, Wang, Bruney, Damon, Betimet, Joba, im sure more all were on the DL.

Dallas Cowboys:
Roy Williams, Tony Romo, Mat Mcbriar, Kyle Kosier, Jason Witton, Terrence Newman, Felix Jones, ect...

North Carolina:
Tyler Hansbrough, Tyler Zeller, Ty Lawson. He is my most hated players this year. Last year it was Latroy Hawkins.

- Watch Bernie Williams on centerstage he is a funny guy.

- Hollywood Undead puts on a great show. If you dont listen to them you should.

- I finally have a job starting next weekend at Darien Lake. Out of debt at last!!! Well almost.

- I Have Tickets to the May 13th game in Toronto. The way it looks now ill be able to watch Sabathia pitch.

- Joe Girardi makes alot of bad moves. I should be manager.... Maybe.

- Thompson is good at third base. I was extremely upset with out 3rd base coaches after Willie with an exception of Bowa. I love Sojo but he and Bobby just werent any good.

- If I had my way the numbers 51, 21, 2, 42 would all be retired eventually.

- Asher Roth's debut CD is legit check it out.

- Its 2:37 am im going to bed. This just clears room on the 40 man roster and dumps 2 pitchers that have been useless.

DFA Angel Berroa when A-rod gets back.

Those moves give us 3 spots on the 40 man roster to add 4 players.

1. Shelley Duncan- Add him to the roster and bench. With Gardner, Molina and Pena on the bench we have no pop off the bench.

2. Pedro Martinez- As of right now I hate the guy but I think if he was willing to pitch in relief he could help a great deal. I mean He would be better than Veres.

3. Austin Jackson- Not saying we bring him up now but the spot will be used for him come september or whenever we need him.

I would also send Edwar Ramirez to AAA we are carrying to many pitchers.

Basically we are just adding another bat and hopefully a better vetran arm in the pen. This was a great game to watch for crisp and close game down to the wire. Great to see our home grown talent come up big in a win again. Melky and Pena had huge RBIs in the 8th and Coke pitched great. Rivera of course a home grown guy back in the 90s nailed down the save. People complain that we buy people like Teixeira, Sabathia, A-rod but where would we be with out our home guys this year? I dont even want to know. I just hope they keep it up. Cant wait to see more of Melancon I expect him to be huge for us this season. Pettitte goes tomorrow against Weaver I expect us to knock him around like we did last year. He just passed greats such as Luis Sojo, Miguel Cairo and the guy everybody hates Jose Canseco. Hopefully Girardi continues to play him despite the fact that Swisher is just 1 homer away from tying his total as a Yank.

Anyways Yankees clearly do play better when I dont watch. I was supposed to go to a bonfire friday until it rained and Yankees lost. Saturday I had a meeting that was suppose to cause me to miss the Game and NFL Draft it was over early I watched and they lost. Sunday night I watched and well they lost same with monday. So Tuesday night I go to a Hollywood Undead concert (It kicked ass by the way. check them out!) dont catch any of the game and we win 11-0. Then tonight in the third inning when detroit had bases loaded and 1 out I had to run to my cousins. I left and we onyl allowed one run. I hung there for awhile didnt watch any of the game we scored 8 runs to Tigers nothing in that time. Come home turn on the game in the bottem of the ninth and we give up 5 runs in no time. Wierd?? I think so.

But obviously I am happy with our home grown porduction of late. Cano is hitting everything. Hughes, Joba and Melancon have looked good in the box scores. Keep it up young guys!!

Well time for bed I have classes all day tomorrow but should be home in time for the game so you might as well not even watch it.

Eric Duncan??

I wish I could understand why we chose Berroa over Duncan. Yes Berroa had hit more homers and driven in more runs so far at triple A. But Duncan is a natural third baseman and does have a higher batting average. Not to mention if he shows u and plays well he could become a key piece to a trade in July. Berroa will never have trade value again. If Duncan is in last nights game who knows what wouldve happend. Instead of a sacrifice bunt maybe he gets a big hit. Instead of 2 errors maybe he makes the plays at third. Basically if he was in the lineup I think he wouldve made it a 3-2 loss. lol. But give the kid a chance he wants it from what I hear he works his ass off all winter. Why call up a guy who Tony Pena said has just gotten lazy? I want players who are hungry and want to play there heart out for this team.

Rained Out!

Well we will have to wait to see Mr. Giambi return to the bronx. I was really looking forward to seeing him play. Im hoping that when the game is played tomorrow afternoon or night that he gets a good ovation. I got home from doing some yard work when we were trailing 5-3. Pheraps I was the reason for the comeback. Anyways the new stadium really seems to be a hitters park. Homeruns are being hit an an unbelievable pace. I love watching this as of right now im expecting 20 homer seasons from Jeter, Cano, Swisher, Posada, Teixeira, Rodriguez. I hope I am right but we will have to wait and see.

Also I think we made need to aquire one more guy to put us over the top. With Nady out for the year and Matsui only being able to play consistantly if he goes 0-4 I think Matt Holiday would be the perfect guy for this team. A .300 hitter with power to all fields and could steal 20 bases. Play him DH and play left. This is now my new favorite version of Take me out to the ball game passing the Goo Goo Dolls. Below are links to both versions vote for your favorite in the poll to the right. Im gonna have to learn how to post videos from websites.

Bernie Williams
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74U9ps86pRo

Goo Goo Dolls
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAyRIZft87s

Bad Luck?

I also want to appologize to Yankee fans for being a bad luck charm. Over the first 8 game I watched 4 of them. All 4 that I tuned in for Yankees lost. Todays game I watched through 6 innings and we were down one I went to get dinner and we came back. So once again im sorry. Expect more losses throughout the season when my schedule isnt so busy and I can watch more and more games.

That Sucked

Plain in simple opening day sucked. This is what i had hoped for all offseason i didnt want Mike Camron, Nate Mclouth, or anybody else especially someone that would mean us trading Robinson Cano such as Matt Kemp. I made my decision last year I believe in August maybe July I dont remember but he was playing and the Yanks were winning. He was the spark the team needed stealing bases and getting game winning hits. Right after his heroics against the Royals, Yankees were heading to Toronto and Hideki Matsui came off the Disabled List. Brett Gardner then was an extra outfielder and pinch runner and any chance of making a run for the wild card quickly slipped away. Dont get me wrong im glad we have Godzilla back in our lineup and i still think he could drive in alot of runs if healthy but Gardner is the spark this team needs and has been missing for awhile now.

I never thought this day would come.

I agree with something Michael Kay just said. This year I followed Phil Hughes, Mark Melancon, Austin Jackson, and the center field race between Garder and Melky. I really can only look at stats since I didnt watch all the games and I wasnt there to see in person. Honestly I was impressed by each of these guys stats.

Phil Hughes
Phil really impressed me this spring posting a 2.19 ERA and 8 Strikeouts in 12.1 Innings not including his start versus Team USA. However he did have 7 walks But off the top of my head most of those came in the first game he pitched. He should be the first Starter to come up when A.J. Burnett goes on the DL.

Mark Melancon
Melancon also had a strong spring even though his 7.94 ERA might lead you to think otherwise. He had 5 strong outing and 1 bad outing wich bloated his ERA. But you cant judge an ERA on just 5.2 innings pitched. I expect him to join our pen this year and hopefully live up to his label as the next Joba.

Austin Jackson
Considered by most as our top prospect Jackson had a chance to show the Yankees what he can do this spring. After looking at his stats from last season i really wasnt that impressed mostly because he only hit 9 homeruns. However he hit 2 this spring and seems like his power is developing. I dont know if we will see him in the Majors before september this year my guess would be no since we currently have a packed outfield but you never know who will be injured.

Update: To improve upon an already great spring training Jackson just smoked a grand slam over the left field wall.

Gardner Vs. Melky
Coming into this spring i was pulling for Gardner and I think his stats speak for themselves.
AVG. HR RBI OBP SB
Cabrera .295 0 6 .380 2
Gardner .405 3 6 .468 4

One player who really impressed me was Cody Ransom his spring was good enough that he will beat otu A-rod for the start at third base on opening day.

U.S.A Wins!!!

Just when it seemed USA was about to be eliminated they put together a great comback in the ninth to win it. Down by 2 Runs Victorino and Roberts signled to star off the ninth. That was followed by Jeter who lined one hard but right to Rightfielder Alex Rios. However back to back walks followed to Rollins and a first baseman cutting the lead to one. Finally David Wright hit one down the rightfield line to win it in for USA. It was a very exciting finish. Honestly I couldnt care less about who wins the WBC but its baseball and I do enjoy exciting games and this game definatly fit the bill.

Newest Yankee Blogger

Hey everyone if theres anyone.
